Obituary of Alfred Krage

Alfred John Krage was born in Winona, Minnesota, on June 24, 1925 to Alfred and Laura Belle (Ingram) Krage, the youngest of seven children. He passed away early morning May 22 at Cottage in the Meadow, Yakima.
Al was drafted into the Army in 1943 and was in the 90th Division, arriving in France on D-Day plus 6. He married Winnifred Spratt in Baxter General Army Hospital, Spokane, Washington, on August 10, 1945, where she was serving as an Army nurse.
They settled in Yakima, Washington, where he worked as a carpenter, contractor, and landlord for many years. Al was converted to Jesus Christ the Sunday before Christmas 1952. He followed Jesus until his death. As a member of the Bible Missionary Church, his church family was very dear to him.
Al was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Ralph, Ham, Ed, Ruth, Laura and Winnifred. Al is survived by his wife Winnifred (Spratt) Krage; daughters Sandra Krage, Yakima; Winnifred Myers, Cotati, California; Laura (Bill) McEwen, Hagarstown, Maryland; grandchildren Rachel (McVey) Nelson; Timothy McVey; Sharon (McVey) Hook; Roselyn Myers; Jeffrey Myers; and great granddaughters Victoria, Katherine, Christine and Liliana Joy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services are at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors, 201 N. 2nd Street, Yakima.
Visitation – Wednesday May 30 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Funeral Service – Thursday May 31, 2018, at 1:00 p.m.
Burial – immediately following funeral at Terrace Heights Cemetery, 3001 Terrace Heights Drive in Veterans section.
