Obituary of Shirley McHugh
On July 24, 2018, our beloved mom, grandma and wife, Shirley Lee McHugh was accepted by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Shirley loved to spend time with family. She enjoyed looking at their latest projects, celebrating birthdays, family dinners and playing pinochle. Shirley was a bowler, dabbled in golf, and loved to watch baseball and tennis. She was devoted to her Lutheran faith and church. Shirley also had a mischievous sense of humor just like her father. She was a quiet, kind, loving soul with a big heart and sweet smile.
Shirley was the third child of Lennert and Eva Hofferber. A little brother followed 11 years later. She was born in Greeley, CO, on April 6, 1937. They farmed near Keensburg, CO, at the time. The family came to settle in the Yakima Valley in 1950 when Shirley was a teenager. Shirley graduated from Yakima High School in 1955. Afterward, Shirley worked for Webb Tractor. She met her first husband and father of her three sons: Stephen, James and Charles Zerby. Three grandsons followed: Danny, Richard and Roger.
In 1971, Shirley married her husband of 47 years James McHugh. She went on to work part-time to the incredible age of 78. Shirley left behind a long list of co-workers, caretakers, friends and acquaintances. Shirley, you will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018, at 11:00 AM, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 801 Tieton Drive, with interment following at Tahoma Cemetery.
