Obituary of Pauline Polo
Pauline Mary Polo died peacefully at her home on October 17, 2018 at the age of 89. A proud farm girl with a strong work ethic. She milked cows, bucked hay and claimed to have swam the Yakima River at an early age. She loved her 6 children very much. Her daily wish was for her children to always be happy. No easy wish to fulfil given the Polo-Jackson clan of 5 boys and 1 girl. She worked at Drapers, Goddards, Polo’s Hairstyling and Mrs. P’s tanning salon. Finding the job she loved the most, Pauline worked several years at McClure Elementary as a paraeducator with young children. Known as “Polly”, she loved her work. She retired from the Yakima School District at the age of 84. After retirement, she was quick to point out “Tomorrow is promised to no one, enjoy every day. 99 years from now, it’s not going to matter.” Even as her health declined, when asked how she was feeling, she would respond, “Hey, if I felt any better, I would be worried.” She enjoyed the mountains, camping boating, golf and ice-skating. Her greatest joy was selfless devotion to her family. In addition to her 6 children, she is survived by 5 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. A private family ceremony was held, at her request, in her honor, to remember her, and to let her know that SHE made us all happy!
