Obituary of Bertha DuBuc
Bertha Jane (Nance) DuBuc was born in Mabton, WA on June 26, 1936, the tallest of her siblings at 5ft 10 and most of the girls in her day.
She finished public school in Idaho receiving a diploma in 1953 and completed a Red Cross home nursing course in 1954.
The Nance family returned to the Valley where she crossed paths with her future husband at the Haney gas station on Yakima Avenue.
With her long naturally curly hair and as dad would say, “those legs for days,” they were married on October 23, 1955.
Bertha was a devoted wife and mother and would take the time to entertain little ones by playing made up games, coloring or just reading a story.
A generous person who was always looking for ways to share, even when times were hard she never turned away the hungry.
Many of her family and friends enjoyed spending days together roaming through the orchard on the ranch picking fresh fruit for many years.
She enjoyed bird watching, flower gardening, going on picnics collecting costume jewelry, music boxes and stuffed plush babies.
Mom had a good heart, a faith in the Bible, and knew that this life was not the end of it all.
Bertha died February 4, 2019 and will be truly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur Dean DuBuc. They leave behind their daughter Diana (Bill) Petersen, granddaughter Heather (John) Andersen, grandson James Paysse, four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on March 23, 2019. Contact Shaw & Sons for information on the location.
