Obituary of Tim King

Timmy Rae King (Tim) was born on January 31, 1957 in Spokane, WA to Donald G and Pauline F King of Kinsley, KS.

After a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer, he lost. He passed peacefully at Cottage in the Meadow on Friday, February 8, 2019. He had just turned 62.

From an early age Tim showed his ingenuity and carpentry skills by nailing his mom’s belts to a tree to use as a ladder. He has always been good with his hands. He built a new garage for the family when he was just 17. He graduated from West Valley High School in 1975. He went to work immediately at Midstate Glass where he became a journeyman glazer under the tutelage of Bob Townsend and Dave Pauling. He worked as a glazer for many years at Miller Glass. He also owned and operated King’s Construction, and worked for Ausink Construction. He settled into his work home at Tri-Ply Construction where he worked for twenty-four years. He loved being able to work on something different everyday, and he loved his Tri-Ply family.

He met the love of his life, Christie A King, on a chance meeting on Yakima Ave in April of 1974. They were married September 2, 1978. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary along the Oregon Coast, where they had also honeymooned.

They had their son, Jessie J King, on May 25, 1982. Tim was a very active dad from early on. He would be the one to take Jessie to day care and pick him up everyday. He was very proud of Jess, and loved him very much.

He was preceded in death by parents Donald King, Pauline King, and sister Shirley Munger. He is survived by his wife Christie King, son Jessie King, brother Tommy King (Myke), and sister Peggy Grant.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society or Habitat for Humanities. A special thanks to the staff at Cottage in the Meadow!
